Have no active or hereditary disease

What is the egg donation process like?

It is a safe and simple procedure that begins the moment you express your interest in becoming an IGIN donor.

01

Fill in this form or contact us without obligation.

02

We will make an appointment to meet you and give you all the information. If you are still interested, we will arrange a personal interview.

03

We will carry out a medical check-up and specific blood tests to rule out diseases and assess the state of your ovarian reserve. If everything is fine, we can begin the donation process.

04

We plan your process, starting with ovarian stimulation. This phase lasts 10 to 12 days during which you will take an injectable medication at home that we will provide you with and teach you how to use. During this time we will do ultrasound checks at the clinic.

05

When we see that your ovaries are ready, you will be scheduled for the egg retrieval: a simple procedure with mild sedation in which we retrieve the eggs. You will be discharged and given instructions on how to return to your normal activities.

FAQs about donation

Why donate my eggs?
Because in this way you help women with fertility problems, who otherwise would not be able to fulfil their desire to become mothers. It is a voluntary, anonymous and altruistic act that is also very well regulated by Spanish law (Law 14/2006 on Assisted Human Reproduction Techniques and Royal Decree-Law 9/2014) which follows the guidelines of the European directive.
Who is eligible to donate?
All women between the ages of 18 and 30 who are in good physical and mental health, and who have no history of hereditary diseases in the family.
Who will receive my eggs?
Donor-recipient matching is done by physical characteristics, so a woman with similar physical features to yours, of the same ethnicity and compatible blood type will be the one to receive your eggs.
What is needed to become an egg donor?
To become an egg donor you will only have to pass an interview and a medical and psychological examination as well as a blood test where your physical and mental health will be studied as well as any possible hereditary diseases that you could transmit.
Is donation rewarded?
Egg donation is, according to Spanish legislation, an anonymous, voluntary and altruistic act, but it establishes a financial compensation for the inconvenience caused during the process (medical checks and visits, time spent administering medication, travelling to the clinic, etc…). Ask us for more information.
What are the side effects of donation?
Egg donation is nowadays a safe process if you follow the controls and recommendations of the medical staff. The side effects that you may have are very well tolerated. The most common is a slightly swollen abdomen, as in the days before menstruation. The probability of any kind of serious complication such as genital and internal infections, haemorrhages, hyperstimulation or ovarian torsion during the process is very unlikely.
Will I have problems becoming a mother in the future if I donate?
No, when you donate your eggs we are really extracting those eggs that would not mature naturally in that cycle and that your body also discards. So your ovarian reserve will not be altered.
Will my identity be revealed?
No, according to Law 14/2006 on assisted human reproduction techniques, the donation is anonymous, so under no circumstances can the identity of the donor be revealed to the recipient or vice versa.
Why choose IGIN?
Because we know how difficult it is to make the decision to donate your eggs. We want the journey to be as comfortable as possible for you. We will inform you step by step about how your treatment is going, we will solve your doubts and we will take care of you so that you have nothing to worry about, as you will always be well looked after. And we will compensate you financially with a higher amount than you will find in other centres.
What does the law say about donation?
The legal framework regulating assisted human reproduction is basically constituted by Law 14/2006 on assisted human reproduction techniques. When the intervention of gamete donors takes place, the Royal Decree-Law 9/2014, of 4 July, on quality and safety standards for donation, is of particular relevance.
